The Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. is remembered each year in a service that focuses on justice and mercy.
MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY
Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministry (FAEM) Annual Service honoring Martin Luther King Jr.
Monday January 19, 2026 at 12 Noon

This year on Monday January 19 at 12 noon, Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministry will be celebrating the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 59 High Street, Wilton, ME 04294. The Guest Speaker will be Sandra Bassett, a Passamaquoddy educator from Sipayik near Eastport, ME. Some of her work has included facilitating peace and healing circles with Wabanaki people who are incarcerated.
This year the special offering will be split between 2 non-profit organizations: Wabanaki Reach, who support the self-determination of Wabanaki people through education, truth-telling, restorative justice, and restorative practices in Wabanaki and Maine, and Gedakina, which provides opportunities for Native American women and their families across New England . Please send checks made payable to St. Luke’s, with the notation “MLK collection”.

A Community Good Friday Service, Friday April 3
Organized by Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministry
Please join us for a Good Friday service at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church (110 Academy St in Farmington) at noon.
For those who wish to join in, there will be an ecumenical prayer walk in downtown Farmington immediately after the service. This is based on the medieval tradition of the stations of the Cross, from the condemnation of Jesus to his burial. The walk will start at Henderson Memorial and proceed downtown to end at the Gazebo on Main Street. The service and walk combined are expected to last 1 hour.
Easter Sunrise Service
Easter Sunrise service will be in Wilton at the corner of Colby Miller Rd and Orchard Drive at 6 AM.

Service of Compassion and Hope
The Service of Compassion and Hope for those for whom the Christmas season can be a difficult time. The service is generally held at Fairbanks Union Church, 583 Fairbanks Road, Farmington a week or so before Christmas, and includes candle lighting, special music, and prayer.
